Brainerd United Methodist Church is involved with several outreach ministries both within our church body and within the Chattanooga community at large.
Mustard Tree Ministries
Mustard Tree Ministries exists to help people become all that God wants them to be. In Matthew's Gospel, Jesus says the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed and when it grows up it becomes the largest tree where 'all birds' can come. Thus, we call ourselves Mustard Tree, not Mustard Seed. Jesus looks at what we can become when we are reconciled to God and growing in His kingdom. Our main goal is to help people discover or rediscover their relationship with God, family, and community. Mustard Tree Ministries offers several ways of helping to connect people to Jesus including serving a Community Lunch in Miller Park every Wednesday 12:30-1:30
Director Barry Kidwell leads a team of servants and volunteers to assist in the call to love our neighbors. The focus of the mission is our poor and homeless brothers and sisters in Chattanooga and around the world.

Cherokee Woodcutting Work Camp
Each fall, we take a group to Cherokee, North Carolina to provide firewood for senior citizens of the Qualla Boundary for heating their homes through the winter. This work camp experience offers the unique opportunity to come together with folks from other communities, cultural backgrounds, and denominations in a week of spiritual fellowship with one another. You will be joined by people from all over the eastern United States in a community nestled in the mountains of North Carolina that is home to the Eastern Band of the Cherokee.

Operation Christmas Child
Every year, we collect shoeboxes to send through Samaritan's Purse to children who would otherwise not receive and Christmas gifts. A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. Be a part of changing children's lives all over the world in Jesus' Name through the power of a simple gift with Operation Christmas Child. Shoeboxes can be packed any time during the year and brought to the church the beginning of November. We gladly deliver them to regional collection centers mid-November.
